Once the printer hardware is installed then you can install the Printer Software for different Operating Systems by downloading the HP Deskjet 1110 printer driver from 123.hp.com/dj1110. Alternatively printer driver installation can be done by inserting the HP Deskjet installation CD onto the CD Drive of your Computer.

By default an automatic update is initiated, if both of the Printer Network Connection and Web Services are enabled.

Connect a New Printer

Windows 10: Click the Start Menu button on the Desktop and click All Apps from app bar, select HP Tab and click the desired Printer Icon.

Windows 8.1: Click the down arrow in the Start screen and then click the HP Printer Icon.

Windows 8: Right-Click on the empty space of the screen on your desktop. Click all Apps from app bar, and run the HP Printer Icon

Windows 7: Windows Vista and Windows XP: Click on the Start button in your Desktop and select All Programs, choose HP and click the printer folder. Click the HP icon to complete the set up,

  1. Run the Printer Icon from the Desktop Menu.

Using the Embedded Web Server update the HP DESKJET 1110 Printer software

  1. During intial setup, the printer driver is downloaded from 123.hp.com.dj1110 and installed and the setup is completed. However, at some point you might need to update the printer driver. This can be done as follows:
  2. Open the HP Deskjet Printer’s Embedded Web Server Homepage from your web browser.
  3. Click the Tools Tab.
  4. Select the Printer Updates section and click Firmware Updates, Now follow the on screen instructions to update the Printer software

  1. Run the Printer Icon from the Desktop Menu.
  2. Select the option Connect a New Printer.
  3. Follow the on-screen installation to complete the Printer Setup, which includes downloading the printer driver from 123.hp.com/dj1110 and configuring the network connections.
HP Printer Setup for Mac OS X

For installing printer driver in Mac OS x, download the printer driver from 123.hp.com/dj1110. Alternatively, you can insert the HP installation Drive onto the CD Drive of your Computer and follow the Automatic Setup onscreen instructions to complete the HP Printer Software installation. If Auto Setup Installation did not work then open the CD Drive from the Disk drives and run the HP Printer Setup executables to manually install the HP Printer Software.

  1. Open the input tray of your HP Printer and load the paper to the tray.
  2. Fix the paper-width guide firmly so as to keep the papers onto its place.
  3. Open the Utilities folder from the Desktop Menu.
  4. Double click to Open the Printer Icon.
  5. Select the option Install a New Printer and follow the on-screen installation to complete the Printer Setup.
  6. Open any file to click on the Print button and select the HP printer.
  7. Select the Properties button to open the Properties dialog box.

  1. For Apple OS X v10.6: To access the print options, Click the blue triangle available next to the Printer selection option
  2. For Apple OS X Lion and Mountain Lion: To access the print options, Click show details button available next to the Printer selection option
  3. Locate the Print options menu and select the Page Orientation, Size and Scaling Percentage etc., and then Click Print
Turn the Printer OFF

Press the Power Button located in the Control Panel section of the Printer to turn OFF the Printer. Wait until the Power light indicator turns OFF to unplug the Power Cord. If you imperfectly turn the Printer off, the Print Carriage will not return to its original position thus resulting in poor Print Quality and Cartridge problems.

Ink Cartridge issues

Identify the Ink Cartridge problem

  1. Use the Cartridge LED Light and the Attention Light to check on the status of the ink cartridge issue.
  2. If you get an ink cartridge issue from the HP Printer software then do one of the following.
  3. Remove the black ink cartridge and close the cartridge access door, if problem persist then check for
    1. If the Cartridge LED Light for the corresponding tri-color cartridge blinks then a problem is present in the tri-color cartridge. Replace the tri-color cartridge.
    2. If the Cartridge LED Light for the corresponding tri-color cartridge is lit then replace the black ink cartridge.
  4. For advanced troubleshooting, Install the black ink cartridge to the cartridge slot and remove the tri-color ink cartridge to check on the status of the ink cartridge issue
    1. If the Cartridge LED Light for the corresponding black cartridge blinks then a problem is present in the black cartridge. Replace the black cartridge.
    2. If the Cartridge LED Light for the corresponding black cartridge is lit then there is no problem present in either of the ink cartridges.

Fix Ink Cartridge problems

Check the Ink Cartridge for plastic tape, if present then remove it. You can also clean the Cartridge contacts to troubleshoot Ink Cartridge problem.

To clean cartridge contacts

  1. Turn OFF the Power button in the Printer.
  2. Pull the Output Door from its both sides in a clockwise direction to stow it in the printer.
  3. Open the Front Door present within the Output Door.
  4. Open the Cartridge access door and wait until the print carriage is moved to the center.
  5. One after the other remove the ink cartridges and clean the cartridge electrical contact using a swab.
  6. Reinstall the ink cartridges back to its slots.
  7. Caution: Make sure you reinstall the cartridges before 30 minutes of its removal, since a print head damage can result.
  8. Close the Cartridge access door and the Front Door.
  9. Close the Output Door by pushing it anti-clockwise towards the Printer until it firmly fits.
  10. Turn ON the Power button in the Printer.
Troubleshoot Copy Issue
  1. Open the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility to resolve Copy problems.
  2. Follow the step by step instructions to resolve the following issues:
    1. If Print Copies are blank or faded, Press Start Copy Black button to get a Lighter/Darker contrast level
    2. If your printouts are low quality then Press Start Copy Color button to get a high quality prints.
    3. If you can't print anything, the DeskJet 1110 printer might be offline.
Troubleshoot Scan Issue
  1. Open the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility to diagnose and automatically fix scan issues.
  2. Use HP online troubleshooting wizard to resolve Scan problems.
  3. Follow the step by step instructions to resolve the following issues:
    1. If Printer does not create a Scan Image
      1. Check for the Original: Ensure to keep the original properly under the Scanner.
      2. Check for Printer Sleep Mode: Swipe down the tab in the control panel to come out of Sleep Mode.
      3. Check for Printer Software settings: If Windows OS then enable Scan a Document or Photo option, for MAC OS X, ensure to select Enable Scan to Computer.
    2. If your Scan Images are of low quality
      1. Be sure on using the Paper width guides on the Document Feeder to avoid skewed scan images
    3. If unable to Scan to Email
      1. The email address might be incorrect and does not recognize by the email server. You can check the email inbox for delivery notification failure message.
Troubleshoot Network and Connection problem

Troubleshoot a wireless connection

  1. Open the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility to diagnose and automatically fix wireless connection issues.
  2. Use HP online troubleshooting wizard to resolve wireless connection problems.
  3. Use HP online troubleshooting wizard to resolve antivirus issue or firewall prevention.

Troubleshoot a Wireless Direct connection

  1. Ensure that Wireless Direct light present on control panel is ON. If the light is OFF then press the Wireless Direct button to turn it ON.
  2. Enable the Wi-Fi Direct feature from your Computer or mobile devices and synchronize it with your Printer.
  3. When prompted enter the Wireless Direct password to establish connection.

Printer Hardware Problem

Unexpectedly Printer shuts down

  1. Check for the incoming Power and the Power ON button.
  2. If problem persist, Disconnect the Power cord and wait for 15 seconds and connect it to the wall outlet.
  3. Ensure there is no damage to the Power cord and is firmly fixed.
